Team Information
Chile -
Manager – Marcelo Bielsa
Chile may not have been in the biggest competition in the world for over 12 years but they still have a pretty impressive record with five world cup appearances under there belt and a third place finish in 1962 there best finish to date. Chile also had a fantastic qualification campaign this time around finishing just 1 point behind Brazil and the same number of points as Paraguay, but more importantly ahead of Argentina. In this summers world cup they will be looking to get to second place in there group stage knowing that Spain are likely to get first.
Honduras -
Manager – Reinaldo Rueda
Honduras have only made one previous world cup appearance in 1982 and failing to make it out of the group stage in the process. Honduras will be just happy to make it back on the biggest stage of them all but is they were to get through to the last 16 stage I think they will have a platform to keep coming back to the world cup. Honduras qualified for this years world cup beating El Salvador 1-0 away sparking jubilant scenes.
Spain -
Manager – Vicente Del Bosque
Spain after years of under achieving finally got some silverware the the cabinet in 2008 winning Euro 2008 Competition. Spain will be looking to take some momentum from the competition into this years world cup hoping that this will be the first time they win the great trophy. Spain are certainly one of the favourites to win the world cup with players like Fernando Torres, David Villa and captain Carles Puyol its hard to look past the current European champions. Spain have made 12 previous world cup appearances best finishing fourth in 1950 the nation will be expecting at least a final place this time around.
Switzerland -
Manager – Ottmar Hitzfeld
Switzerland have made 8 previous world cup appearances with there best finishes being in the quarter finals on three separate occasions in 1934/1938 and 1954. Switzerland made world cup history in the last world cup in 2006 in Germany being the first ever team not to concede a goal in the competition but still managing to get knocked out. With players like Phillippe Senderos and Alexander Frei they will be hoping to make it into the last 16 stage.
