Team Information
Brazil -
Manager – Dunga
Brazil well where can you start. 18 previous world cup appearance incredible and five times winners with the most recent of them in 2002 when the world cup was hosted by Japan and South Korea. Brazil play a style of football like no other and the attacking players they have got like Kaka and Luis Fabiano there are certainly my favourites to go all the way in South Africa this year. Brazil qualified for this summers world cup finishing top of there group one point above Chile and Paraguay. There aim is to finish top spot in there world cup group as well but its going to be a tough group and its already quickly been retitled the group of death.
Ivory Coast -
Coach – Sven-Goran Eriksson
Ivory Coast have a pretty dismal record in the world cup just the one appearance and finishing in round 1. But like all the African teams there improving big time and could be a regular feature in future world cups. Ivory Coast have one of the best strikers around at the moment in Didier Drogba and they will be hoping that his attacking ability helps Ivory Coast get into the last 16 stage and coming through the so called group of death.
North Korea -
Manager – Kim Jong – Hun
North Korea have only made one previous world cup appearance in 1966 getting knocked out in the first round by Portugal 5-3 despite having a 3-0 lead. They did cause a shock though in that world cup by beating Italy 1-0 in the group stages. Looking at the competition in the group stages this time around it would be hard to see how North Korea can progress through to the last 16.
Portugal –
Manager – Carlos Queiroz
Portugal had a tough qualifying round to reach the world cup finals and had to go through via the world cup play-offs beating Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-2 on aggregate. Despite there poor recent form Portugal will be going into the world cup with one of the best players in the world on there side in Cristiano Ronaldo and knowing if he’s on fire Portugal have got a great chance of winning this years world cup. Portugal have only graced the world cup on four previous occasions best finishing in 3rd place in the 1966 world cup. They will be hoping to get to the final this time around.
